Note About Summer Camp Registration Process

During leader meetings at summer camp this year, there was an overwhelming number of requests and feedback to streamline the summer camp registration process. Council volunteers and staff are in the process of revamping the registration system and information will be available at October roundtables.


Cub Scout Day One - September 20



Join us and discover the exciting world of Scouting at Day One on Sept. 20. This is a great opportunity for new Cub Scouts to see what the Scouting experience is all about. Come when you can and plan to stay all day. Families are welcome and picnic lunches are encouraged. There are four Day One locations throughout the council. Dining Hall Construction Underway at S bar F

Last fall, the council unveiled its plans to build a 16,000-square-foot dining hall and central commissary at S bar F Scout Ranch. Construction on the project began in mid-August and the dining hall will be ready in time for the 2015 summer camp season. The structure will be located at Camp Famous Eagle near the program office and have the capacity to seat over 400 diners. Troops will continue to have the option for patrol cooking at S bar F. Council Unveils Marketing Campaign-Scout It Out!



This summer, the council will begin rolling out its new marketing campaign- Scout It Out! Designed to leverage the exciting activities youth can participate in through Scouting, the new campaign is designed to energize, build awareness, and address misperceptions about the Boy Scout brand. Greater St. Louis Area Council Announces New Scout Shop Location

In order to better serve its members, the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is moving its West County store to a new, more centrally-located site. The new store, called BSA Outfitters, opened on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at 13347 Manchester Road (next to Trader Joe's in the Des Peres Pointe shopping center). The new store replaces the former West County Scout Shop on Page Avenue, which closes on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Recruitment Resources Available Online

Recruiting new Scouts is a year-round effort; however, more youth join Scouting in the fall than any other time of the year. In August, GSLAC will begin its annual School Night to Join Scouting campaign welcoming about 5,000 new kids to the Scouting program over the next month. Certified Angler Instructor Training


Come join the council for a special weekend workshop for Certified Angler Instructor Training Oct. 24-26 at S bar F Scout Ranch. Program attendees will have the opportunity to earn the BSA Certified Angler Instructor recognition and can be certified to run fishing programs at BSA summer camps and instruct the Fishing and Fly Fishing Merit Badges. Register For the 2015 World Scout Jamboree


In 2015, more than 30,000 Scouts and leaders from 161 countries around the world will converge on Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi, Japan, for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree. The event will provide opportunities to raise awareness about global issues, explore the environment, participate in community service, make friends from around the world, and deepen understanding of developments in science and technology.
